Welcome to Spirakis Images

Like so many people, I was drawn to photography at an early age but school and later my work  kept me too busy to spend as much time on photography as I would have liked.  Nevertheless, I still squeezed in enough time to explore taking photos that show nature in ways we might not always notice.  Fortunately in 2005, after 21 years at Intel, I was able to retire and focus more time on photography, especially landscape and nature photography.  Life, however, takes you on many unexpected paths.

Through my daughter’s softball team we met the Davey family.  On January 24, 2004 Kathleen Davey, a healthy young woman, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. While Kathleen was being resuscitated from her cardiac arrest, her brain suffered an anoxic ischemic injury and she is still on the path to recovery.   In response, the non-profit Global Ischemia Foundation,   www.globalischemia.org,  was created to encourage research in the area of central nervous system ischemic accidents.

Because I believe this is such an important area of research, all of the proceeds from the sales of my photos will go to the Foundation.  Please take a look through the gallery.  Hopefully the beauty that’s captured in these photos can be used in some small way to help those suffering from ischemic injuries see the beauty of the world again.
